Penang: Kek Lok Si Temple 2

Sorry kinda busy recently helping a friend with designing a Wordpress template. First time designing a wordpress template and it so freaky hard. What to do..I have no info and knowledge on coding, php, etc. And the tutorials are not helping at all without any clear explanations on where and what should I do.

No mood to do much explanation today. :( So just enjoy the photos ya :)

Today, we will be visiting the upper level of the Temple. There are 3 ways you can choose to get here.

One, take the "moving room" for RM4.
Two, drive up from lower level from the main road.
Three, there's always a stairs, I think.

I just love this little corner of the temple. Like what the Chinese always say "You Shan You Sui" (Direct Translate: Got Mountain Got Water). In short, it means a pretty place. XD

Hmm...Suddenly feel that I should took a further shot of the place which would make better photo I think.

Wakakaka...playing with my shutter speed. Trying to Freeze the water.

To my disappointed, the Guan Yi Ma (Goddess of Mercy) statue is still under renovation after 3 years. Anyway, for those who don't know, this statue is the biggest Guan Yi Ma statue in Malaysia (Should be lar).

Met my cousin there.

Siti met hers too. Wahahahahaha... I'm so gonna get hentam for this.

A group shot before we leave. It was so damn hot and sunny that day. We couldn't stand the heat d after taking so many shots under the big burning sun.

Okay, that's all for today. :P May god bless you all~~
I need to get back to my wordpress d. @@ May god bless me too...

Penang: Holy Water! Don't Pray Pray.

Good Morning Everyone~~~ *yawn*Have your breakfast d? If not, here's a morning comic strip for you. Hehehe

Remember I mentioned in the previous post that the rest of the gang went to pray right? They went to ask for some holy water from the temple.

I never knew there was something like holy water before, so its quite interesting for me to see.

Penang: Kek Lok Si Temple 1

Lalala...back to the Penang Trip..

After we finished visiting the Fort Cornwallis (1, 2), we went back to the hotel to meet up with Nicole who just came back from Kedah.

(This is just a made up story...maybe Geek really think like that also no one knows. Hahaha)
From the left: Spanar King(Geek), Me, Siti and Nic

Right after we picked her up, we headed straight over to Kek Lok Si Temple. Although we did had some difficulties finding the place (I forgot to turn into the road to the temple) but we still managed to reach the temple. XD

For those who dunno, the Kek Lok Si Temple is built on the side of a mountain which made the Kek Lok Si Temple to divide into two parts, a lower level and a upper level due to the slope of the mountain.

Since its built on the side of the mountain, you can actually see the George Town from there. If you look carefully at the background of the photo below, you can actually see a blur and black stick-alike figure. That's the Komtar building of Penang which is located in the middle of George Town.

It was Wesak Day when we went there. I heard it was a very BIG and happening festival for Penang Buddhist. I was expecting heavy traffic that day but turned out to be normal and no jam at all.

There was not much people at the temple too but we did noticed a lot candles with wishes and names written on it. I guessed most of the them went there early in the morning. (We went there about 2 in the afternoon XD)

Lucky that it was not crowded at all. Giving me more spaces to move around and to take shots XD. Some more it was a very hot day. Imagine if the crowd + the temperature + the smoke and heat from the candles and the sticks will turn me into a wet sweating cat. @@

Although its late in the afternoon d but its never late for a pray. Upon reaching the temple in the photo above, the rest went in and pray for a bag of holy water. It is not my way to pray in a temple. I have my own theory, believe and way to conduct my praying. :P

So I went to capture some photos of the temple instead. Most of the photos are the buildings and scenery. I didn't took any photos of the Buddha and God statues in the temple. It seems like disrespectful to do so...my own theory again. XD Hahaha

So if you want to see the statues, go visit the temple yourself. :P

*the moving room to bring us to the upper floor*

Actually, I came here before about 3 years ago. I remembered there was some constructions under going on the upper level during that visit.

So I can't wait to see what renovation had they done to the temple. :D Go up Go up

Penang: Fort Cornwallis 2

Cat's Note: I hereby apologize to everyone for my previous posts of overexposed photos that might be awful for some of you. Without looking into the histogram, some photos seem to be looking fine with my cat eyes XD. Oh ya, thanks to those who remind me about it :D.

Back to the Penang Trip, I'm still in Fort Cornwallis as you can see.

Inside the fort, there's this small galleria that gives out information on the history of Penang and
Sir Francis Light. Beside informations, the galleria also exhibits clothes, weapons, trade items and even copy of the important contracts and letters written by Sir Francis Light.

This galleria building seems to be storage rooms or a meeting rooms. No matter is a storage room or meeting room; personally, I don't really feel good lor whenever I entered the rooms. The rooms' ceilings was very low and there's like only a small door with a sealed window. Yer...phobia phobia..

Anyway, I did finished reading most of the information given despite of my phobia. Hahahaha.

For you information, this fort never took part in any battle before in the old days. Although, the fort was initially built for the military and artillery army but it turned out to be a more administrative.

For those who're interested, go read it yourself :P. If I continued, I think people will start clicking the x button on the browser. Hahaha...

There are these sloped paths in the fort that used to be a path for the cannons and now they're used by these wild horses there. Apparently, the people in the fort happened to rare a couple of horses too. So be careful when you're walking over there as there might be "bombs" right under your feet where you might not be expected.

When I was there, I was lucky enough to witness a live action of a horse planting bombs. :| Or is it unlucky?

After fooling around, we found this big swing right under this one big tree.

I don't know bout you guys, but I always have this strong liking of swings. Whenever I managed to spot one, there's always this attraction that automatically pulls me towards and sit on it. Maybe I love to ride on it during my childhood or something. Hahaha...

Anyway. Yeah!!! A swing!!!!

..............

Ohh..damn... A thief stole it..

In the end, I did managed to sit and took a photo with it. The photo was just too bad to show it here. Hahahaha

Met this bird when we were taking a rest at the small beverage stall there. The bird was so cute. At first, the bird appeared to be very quiet but as soon as someone got near to it, it will starts whistling and if you happened to whistle back, it will replied you. XD Cute or not?

Saw this talented uncle when we're on our way towards the exits. How I wish I could paint like him, or at least have a good sense of color like him. :P

This is random...erm... Penang is named after this fruit.

Its time to leave, and we took a photo with a thin and skinny version of Mr Pringles.

Bubye lor...Fort Cornwallis~~~

Penang: Fort Cornwallis

After the Seafood Dim Sum Breakfast, we went for a visit to Fort Cornwallis. The trip from the Dim Sum shop to the fort only took us like about 10 minutes. The fort was situated right next to the sea where history stated it is the location where Francis Light supposed to have landed in the old days.

There's some entrance fee needed to visit the fort. After paying up and entered the place, we were greeted by this cute bucket guy who looked like a some sort of seaman. To me, he looked more like Mr Pringles from potato chips. Anyway, the Bucket-fella was so cute that Siti couldn't stop herself from molesting him. Poor guy...

Just right beside Mr Pringles, we met someone there, someone famous in Penang.

Who else? If it isn't the famous Sir Francis Light, the founder of Penang. Damn was he good in posing, he looked so Yao Yeng (cool) or maybe it was the one who crafted him out that was good in posing. Hahaha... Anyway as expected, Siti won't be letting go any chances to molest this handsome fella too.

But too bad, as she was going close to the statue, she was stopped by the jealous Siti admirer Gunman Geek. With a rifle which was a few times bigger and longer than his own "2cm gun", no one could possibly land a single finger on the Statue.

So we have no choice to move away from it and continued our tour. As we walk and walk, the two fellas eventually walk in a house. 1 guy and a girl inside an empty house!! Oh Gosh! What are they trying to do inside there? Kekeke... Actually it turned out to be an old church with nothing inside it, not even a light bulb.

I didn't went in there as I have phobia against small rooms with no flowing air or lights..

A fort is not a fort without Cannons! So here's a mini cannon I found near the entrance. Its a miniature 1, the hole of the cannon was only as big as my palm. I doubted it can actually sink a ship with it, maybe a sampan.

Then I found this, a BIG sized Cannon, the Seri Rambai Cannon. Okay, this one for sure can sink a ship XD. But after reading a description board next to it, I found out that this cannon has some mystical powers.

Woah a big cannon with special power!! How uber can that be!! I wondered what special power does the cannon have? Splitting fire balls? Sink 2 ships in one shot??

Swt... Okay, now I just need to get all the enemies to put flowers inside the barrel and get them pray. Then I will win the battle by default when they all get pregnant. =.=. This sounds so pathetic.
Okay okay. Hmm...But then if the legend is true, I wondered what if a guy went and placed a flower in the barrel, what will it happened. A big tummy guy O.o?

Anyway, here's another photo of the cannon from another angle. It will be a better photo, if I managed to get rid of the lamp posts, cars, and the road in the picture. Too bad my photoshop skill is not that pro yet.

Right after I took the photo of the cannon. I found this bird sitting on the lamp post emoing and posing for me. Kekeke..

Penang: Seafood Dim Sum Breakfast

The next day we went over to Campbell Street to have our breakfast in a dim sum shop which I have no idea what's the name of the shop is.

Crab meat and vegetables wrapped with Popiah Skin.
Its like the Fry Dumplings just with a different fillings. I couldn't remember how it taste like but I do remembered the portion was quite big.

Deep Fried Prawn with a slice of Banana inside.
Kinda weird dish I must say. I didn't know there's actually banana inside and all the time I thought the prawn was deep fried using those powder for fried bananas making it so banana flavoring until I go korek and see the fillings inside. :P

Normal Fried Squid.
Very Q!! You can even play Ping Ping with it. XD Another big portion dish....

Cleanse our throat
Really need some tea to clear the throat and stomach after eating so many fried stuffs in the early morning. Healthy wise, we suppose shouhave ordered those steamed dumplings instead.

Egg tard tart
After having so much food, we only ordered one tart to share with.

Yum Yum
Siti in Action!!

Geek Emoing
swt. . . . . . . .

Just right after I took a photo of Geek, that Tigress Siti already finish the whole tart!! RAWR!!! Some more she said the tart was very tasty T___T. And I was too full to order another whole tart for myself. I guess tomorrow morning I will come for it while accompany Nic for the dimsum since she...

Penang: Cho Dai Di (Big 2)

It was a tiring and exhausting day. A good night sleep will really do the job here to replenish all our lost energy and stamina. But we need to go through a card game of Cho Dai Di (Big 2) before we can get to enjoy the sleep.

Spanar King Geek (left), Miao (Middle), Siti (Right)

With my super duper luck that night and my uber "Big 2" skill, I won the game with ease. Hahaha... Scoring 2 wins for me, 1 win for Siti and 0 win for Geek.

And these were the stuffs we got for our wins:
Wakakaka... XD

Ohya forgot to tell you guys, we're staying in a twin sharing room with only one King/Queen size bed.

Penang: Chiong arr!

There was this conversation last 2 weeks ago that started like this...
Siti:
Chiong!

Miao: Chiong!! ehh to where?
Siti: Penang!
Miao: Wah!! Confirm ar??
Siti: Confirm!
Miao: Oo..okay. I go packed..

Everything happened so fast that I was like sleeping in one second and wake up like in Penang in another second.

Rushing to go Penang is one thing, not knowing anything about Penang is another. Our most helpful friend there were the Penang Map and our own Hokkiens. XD

Funny Scenario when asking for directions in Hokkien:
Siti: Uncle, How do I go to this Hotel?
Penang Uncle: You turn here and here and go here and there.
Miao: Ohh...So its turning this then turn there lar? One way ha?
etc...

The funny part here is the three of us were talking in different Hokkien Slang, the Southern Hokkien (Penang), the Northern Hokkien (Pahang) and the Eastern Hokkien (Kuching). Some more the three of us were liked damn serious when discussing about the directions even with the slang differences. XD

When we reached the Hotel, it was like 8pm d. After check in and stuffs, we rush to Gurney Hawker Center to have our dinner.

Sorry I didn't took any food photos there as everyone including me was too hungry to wait for me to take the photos. After the meal, we went for a short walk by the seaside before heading back to hotel.

It was indeed a tiring day but we didn't stopped "lepak" yet. After we reached our hotel, we changed into our clothes and headed over to Uptown Penang for some drinks :P. But sadly we're too late as most of the "leng luis" had already left the area. Too bad too bad... We had no choice but to call the day off.. and went back Zzzz..

SunMiaoKong - In Search of the "Monkey" King

Cat Talk: Sorry for the late update. I was kinda busy lately with traveling and moving out to a new house. :P

Anyway, it had been a long time since I continued the comic strip XD. No idea and inspiration how to continued it. :P

Synopsis: This is how Master Pau and his followers Pork and Sandy mistaken Miao as the legendary Monkey King in the search of HIM.
